Buffy: Blonde and Badass
Just in time for the 25th anniversary of Buffy The Vampire Slayer and #buffyslayday here’s my take on the Chosen One.
Like all the other weavings in my Sunnydale series, this one shares the same 8-harness twill threading and tie-up with the Sunnydale-themed warp (more on that here), then the pattern uniqueness is created with the treadling sequence, and the weft yarn represents the character’s personality, strengths and overall vibe.
Buffy will always be my favorite, so I wanted to make sure this one was special, for the yarn, I used my treasured Brooklyn Tweed Shelter in Thistle (it’s the most wonderful purple with flecks of bright, blood-red, perfect for Buffy), a soft golden yarn from my stash for the speedy stripes in the middle, then bookended with a brooding blue (like Angel, you can read about the Angel panel here and Angel tote/pack here).
Once the weaving was off the loom, I made a large leather tote with the handwoven panel as the front pocket. It’s tough and pretty, just like Buffy, I love using it!
